[00:01:30] I'm super excited to get started. So without any further ado, let's get started with the show. Welcome, Troy, how are you doing today?

[00:01:40] Troy Holt: Hey Monique I am very well. How are you doing am

[00:01:43] Monique Idemudia: gray too. And I'm so excited to have you on and talk about Clubhouse Marketing.

[00:01:49] Troy Holt: Yes. Yes. And I am it's my honor. And my pleasure to be on your podcast. it is truly I'm excited to be here.

[00:01:58] Thank you for the opportunity.

[00:01:59] Monique Idemudia: You guys so welcome and you're so knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to Clubhouse. You're so active on it and you've already hosted a bunch of rooms and have so much experience moderating rooms and just.

[00:02:12] Being active, engaging interacting with people. as a matter of fact, you're the person who invited me into clubs. Right.

[00:02:19] Troy Holt: It's true. Yes. So

[00:02:23] Monique Idemudia: it's an honor to have you on to chat about Clubhouse Marketing because. Like with all social media platforms. of course it's exciting and it's fun to be on there.

[00:02:33] And again, people, but as entrepreneurs, we also always want to know how we can use it for our business and leverage it as a tool and really incorporate it into our digital marketing strategy. So while in Decker,

[00:02:48] Troy Holt: yeah, I, you know, and I think you also have to. what's the word? keep a balance because you can get heavily involved in time can go away.

[00:02:59] It can, it can be time consuming. because it's what somebody said. This Clubhouse has leveled the playing field. So what it has done, it has allowed people to have access to people that normally would. Now sometimes you have some big influencers, but there are some people that I've even connected with that I've been connected with on social media.

[00:03:23] And we, we may be like, take, for example, LinkedIn, we may be connected on LinkedIn and I never have had any real. interaction with them, but Clubhouse has allowed me to have some interaction with them and some collaboration. Can we , Monique can we call it social media?

[00:03:40] I mean, can you put it in the category of social media?

[00:03:44] Monique Idemudia: So it's certainly social, you know?

[00:03:47] Troy Holt: Yeah. That's true. Yeah. Very true. Yeah. And so it has opened up the door. for people to really have an, my, my philosophy. This is my philosophy or my view Clubhouse is a high powered. Podcasts. The only difference is it's allow you to have intimate relationships and interaction than a podcast or a podcast, unless you're doing the interview.

[00:04:13] it's. It's just you, if it's, if it's a single solo interview, a monologue is just you talking, or if it's an interview, it's just you and the the interview and the interview, each communicating, but with, but with Clubhouse, Is you you can interview people. There's other people in the audience. They can interact, they can make comments.

[00:04:31] Troy Holt: So it makes it where there's a community that can interact and talk and really get to know people. You can hear a person's passion. you can really feel, you know, a person that's passionate about something here and feel it so it allows that more intimate connection.

[00:04:46] Monique Idemudia: Exactly. Yes. And you've just answered my first question about what clubhouse is it's a new social media app.

[00:04:54] I would definitely put it into category of social media because you connect with people. You can follow people, other people can follow you and you create content. You put content out there and connect you interact, you engage. it's even more social then, you know, a forum. Which also counts as social media.

[00:05:15] Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And what's special about Clubhouse is that it's audio only. So there's no texts. It's just audio there's rooms. There's clubs. And yeah, it's super exciting. It's a lot more intimate. And like you've already said, it's like an interactive podcast. That's live. That's going on on Clubhouse is live.

[00:05:40] There's no way to like upload prerecorded rate, audio recordings or whatever. And people can jump in and raise their hand to speakers in the room and then engage in the interaction in the interview or group discussion or whatever format that you choose to have for your room. And yeah. Really participate and influence the direction in which it's gone.

[00:06:05] And it's just a great way to contribute to a group. And because it's so more personal, people are much more likely to follow you. Like you can generate a lot of followers quickly, as well as on the social platforms that you connect to Clubhouse.

[00:06:22] Troy Holt: True. Yes, that's true. Yes. And, you know, I thought about a couple of things.

[00:06:27] I have a room and for those that don't know my business I focused on two areas. One of the areas is show people how to use kind of strategies to be a relationships and obtain leads and obtain and retain customers and clients. But also I have a financial services side of my business, and so I have a room I've been doing a room on every Thursday and Rome is, is basically.

[00:06:52] it's an event room, I guess, and the best way to describe it for the audience to understand. So, so we club Clubhouse, you have clubs, clubs is your convention center, and then rooms are your breakout ones where you have different topics orabout topics or I guess topical is the best word going on subjects, topics.

[00:07:12] Troy Holt: And so with my room I've been doing it for about, I think it's about four or five weeks every week at 6:00 PM. Central time on Thursdays. And the name of the topic is what yesterday was the secrets. Of how to the secrets of the wealthy of how to eliminate debt. And so it was, it was a few people that I've been in rooms with previously, and this was my room and I was able to share a lot of information and it was valuable added value information.

[00:07:44] And people was like, wow, I didn't know this. Thank you for sharing this. So it allowed me to share my expertise. And gave me a captive audience and share my expertise in this particular subject. And some people that I've been connected with really? No. Oh I need to get with you and learn more. This is I'll be back next week.

[00:08:04] So, so it, it allows that give you that access to people. By sharing your expertise and those people will start following you, like you said, and then they'll go to your other social media platforms because with Clubhouse there's no DM, you can'thave you can set up a private room, but no one really does that, but there's no DM.

[00:08:25] And I think Monique, I would like to see them, but also I think the may may drop the interaction down. Yes. You know, because people will be in DM and all the time instead of in the room contributing, you know, so it's, so it's going to have the pros and cons in it. So so we'll see. But I've been told that they will have.

[00:08:50] D I'm in the future, just don't know the details. they do have Clubhouse has on I know on Sundays a certain time, they have a town hall where the co the owners co-owners, they all come in the room and they answer questions. Mostly. I think there are questions that have been submitted to them, and then they read them out and then answer them.

[00:09:10] Monique Idemudia: Also what makes Clubhouse so special that there's no texting going on and their DMS, the thing that comes closest to the DMS is opening a private room, which is you. And one other person can talk in private there. But it's still a room and it's still audio. Only. What I'd love to see though, was just the possibility to like show a link or yeah.

[00:09:36] Add a call to action, whatever it may be that people, you know, can see and you can show it and then you can hide it again. So you don't always have to repeat yourself over and over again for the listeners. That have been in the room for awhile to hear it over and over again, because you have to repeat important facts for the new people who are joining.

[00:09:57] And there's just a lot going on. Like, people are common, people are leaving and the fluctuation in the room is pretty high. so yeah, you want to make sure that every participant gets the information that you want them to get, so that we're certainly facilitated for sure.

[00:10:14] Troy Holt: And, and, and I agree because in my room last night that I had I had people come in late.

[00:10:19] So I had to repeat the information you know, three or four times, you know, to make sure that everybody was included in, got what we were talking about which I didn't mind, but. But I don't like to affect the other people that are already there and say, Hey, I've heard this before. So that's my more concern.

[00:10:37] I don't mind repeating and going over again, but the people that have been there the whole time, you know, it'll say to them that they say, Hey, I've heard this two or three times, and then they leave. So you end up having less people. So yeah. I don't know what the solution for that is, but yeah, I agree.

[00:10:51] That is a, that is a challenge there.

[00:10:54] Monique Idemudia: Right. Yeah, exactly. Especially since you can't record it and then give people the recording so they can come back later and just watch the minutes that they've missed or whatever to see that also, in terms of being able to repurpose your content, that's a big topic right now.

[00:11:13] We want to work efficiently and all of our content. And if you don't have the explicit permission. the person the room belongs to, to record and Ashley Sherrod posted and other social media platforms use it for your podcast or your video content. that's just a huge missed opportunity that you can't do that.

[00:11:34] And you can't repurpose that content and you're not allowed to record it, or even like recorded and create a transcript and turn it into a black post. There's so many ways you can repurpose your Clubhouse content and it's difficult right now,

[00:11:48] Troy Holt: your own room. Now what I've seen and I've actually seen and not been in the rooms.

[00:11:54] So. By the terms of service, you can't record. However, I've been in a couple of rooms and I've seen this. So in the title, it says they're recording. And then if you come up to speak, they ask you, Hey, do you agree to the recording? And people agree. And soI'm sure they're going to take that content and repurpose it and has been big, big name people likeSteve Olsher.

[00:12:21] You know, podcasts, magazine you know Comcast, he was, it was one of his room andholla who is a big podcast, or she's also connected with Heather Monahan. They had a recording, so I'm sure they're going to repurpose that content. but they had to get it's in the it's in the title to record it.

[00:12:39] And then when 5k, if I came up to speed, do you agree to give us permission to record? And I have to say yes. So a little work around, I don't know how they, how they going to use the material, but they may repurpose it some kind of way, but technically you can't do that without permission and it violates the terms of service.

[00:12:57] So if a person is going to record, just to make sure that they got all their ducks in a row and everything is covered.

[00:13:02] Monique Idemudia: Absolutely. Yeah, that's a great tip. Thanks for that. That's a great work around. So if it's your own room and do you want to record it, put it in, try to let people know. And if someone raises their hand to be a speaker and they want to contribute something, ask a question or whatever, make it very clear and ask them again that they're actually okay with you recording and it's going to be published elsewhere.

[00:13:27] They're cool with that.

[00:13:29] Troy Holt: And the real key point big point that you pointed out, it has to be your own. You can't be, I can't go in somebody else's room and record. It has to be my own.

[00:13:39] Monique Idemudia: Exactly. Yes. So when it comes to Clubhouse integrating with other social media platforms, what can you connect to your Clubhouse profile?

[00:13:51] What other social media platforms?

[00:13:53] Troy Holt: So you can connect your Twitter and your Instagram. And these are huge because you, you need to connect with people offline or off Clubhouse, and there's no DM. There's no other way to connect with a person. So most of the time people connect via Instagram, they'll say, Hey, send me a, send me a DM on Instagram.

[00:14:19] some people have Twitter. a lot of people are not using Twitter. There's more people using Instagram and Twitter. So I've found out that using Instagram and Twitter. Now, the other good thing about Twitter. If you have a schedule womb, You can share that room. It it'll automatically create a tweet and it and then you just get, you know, you tweet, but send it out.

[00:14:46] Troy Holt: So that's a good thing. I like about Twitter. If you have a scheduled run home and you want to get the word out that. This room is coming up. it will when you connect with the Twitter, it allows you to send out you don't have anything like that for Instagram, because Instagram is a visual platform, but a lot of people you know, they're say, Hey DMV on Instagram.

[00:15:05] So you want to make sure if you own that particular platform, we'll Clubhouse to make sure number one, that you have a bio your bio probably change. It may evolve. Some people, they change their buyout depending on what room they go into so you can change it on the phone. what I typically do is I will work on my bio on my computer, in the Google docs.

[00:15:25] and then I have Google docs on my phone so I can just copy and paste. So that's how I kind of update my bio. there's asite that they can go to fix my bio.com. it gives great tips great ideas, great ideas aboutcreating your bio. So you want to make sure you have a bio and then connect that Instagram that came to make that Twitter.

[00:15:44] Troy Holt: So the people could connect with you outside of Clubhouse. And then it's also, you know, you you'll get followers, you know, on your Instagram or Twitter because of those people, you know, cause they liked what you heard and they want to stay I'll connect with you and want to view your content.

[00:15:59] Monique Idemudia: Yes, exactly. That's a great tip. Thanks for that. By you tip the formatting. Of course you want to put you know, multiple pieces of information about you in your bio out of action. at other maybe social media handles a link to your website. It's not going to. Become like a real clickable link, but you can definitely add the URL and people can then you know, type it in.

[00:16:21] So you want to have like different bullet points or paragraphs and you want your bio to be formatted. So it fitted out in like a Google doc or you notes app and then copy and paste. It I'll keep that same format. And that way you can create a bio exactly how you want it to be. Yeah. And

[00:16:38] Troy Holt: your first, first three lines of your bio is.

[00:16:42] It's the prime real estate. That's the first thing that people will see. And then under that, is this a view, whole profile. So the purpose people are going to see your first three lines first. So you want whatever that is. You want to stand out or say, or how you help people, but that's the prime real estate.

[00:17:00] Your first two lines in your

[00:17:01] Monique Idemudia: body. Exactly. And that's also what people change. Some people who want to really optimize everything when they hop from room to room. Because if you click on a person's face on their profile, picture in a room to learn more about them and see whether you want to follow them or not.

[00:17:17] why they got to see the first two lines of your bio. So that's how they're going to decide whether they want to follow you or not. So that's really important and people follow you a lot in Clubhouse because it's so intimate. They can hear your voice and engage in a life conversation with you. So you can gain quite a bunch of followers, but like half an hour or an hour in a room, and you'll find yourselves, you know, growing your audience really quickly on Clubhouse because it's.

[00:17:44] Monique Idemudia: So intimate and just more interactive. So that's a really great thing.

[00:17:48] Troy Holt: I agree. I agree.

[00:17:50] Monique Idemudia: So when it comes to organic reach, I asked, I found that to be amazing on Clubhouse, you get so many notifications, Hey, this person, you know, even if they haven't pinged you into the room, you get a notification that they've joined the room to see if that might be interesting for you to listen to.

[00:18:09] So you get, you really see. Everything that's going on about the people that follow you're not missing anything from them. So they'll keep you posted.

[00:18:19] Troy Holt: Yeah. Let me say that about pings boy. Sometimes pings are knowing and notifications. Not necessarily, not always, not always ping, but the notifications can be annoying.

[00:18:29] So, you know, you have toyou know, fit what's in your schedule, what's convenient for you at night? I don't have notifications after 10 o'clock at night. and they come back at six o'clock in the morning because I don't want to keep even though my phone stay on silent but I just don't want to all the pings and notifications, but sometimes during the day they are pings.

[00:18:47] And what everybody would have ping is if you are in a room you can ping in a ping as an invite. Other people into that room. So you click on this plus sign and once you click on the plus sign to give you the people of all that are you will follow, I think, as your, the people that you're following and you can hit their neck, that's called a ping and they get a notification to come into that room.

[00:19:10] sometimes people have their pings turned off. Sometimes they are in already in other rooms. my suggestion is don't ping. If you kind of know something about the person then invite them into that room, ping them into that room. you know, if funny example be a hypothetical I don't know if they would be wise.

[00:19:28] Troy Holt: If I knew somebody who was atheist to invite them in a Christian room. You understand what I'm saying? So, so you know that this person is an atheist, this is a Christian room. I don't know if it'd be wise that you want to ping them into that, to that room. So if you kind of know something, so cause some people just ping, ping, ping, ping.

[00:19:43] They just go through their group. So I, I kind of try to use little strategies, say maybethis person I kind of, and you can click on their profile and see and ping them into the room. So that's just my suggestion on pain.

[00:19:55] Monique Idemudia: Yes paying basically for all, you don't know, it's like an invite to your room.

[00:19:59] Like you ping people and then they, you know, receive like a prompt, whether they they're interested in joining a room that you're already in. What I also love about Clubhouse is that it's like no commitment to stay in a room and you can leave quietly and it's okay. Yeah. There's a little button for that, which is like the peace out.

[00:20:22] And then he can just leave quietly and you don't have to like, feel guilty of leaving in the middle or whatever. So that's really great as

[00:20:30] Troy Holt: well. And one other thing that I want to say is, is huge. And this is going to be a challenge for introverts when you come in the room and if they invite you up and if possible, now you could be working and you can't talk, but if they invite you up, Take the invite in this space, if you can offer value, offer value, but sometime they just say, Hey, introduce who you are.

[00:20:59] So what happens is you know, whatever your elevator pitch is. mine basically said, so they'll say, so this is how mine goes. My name is Troy. I'm the CEO of Troy hall consultant, LLC. The CEO stands for chief encouragement officer. My title is my personality. So. It's it it's catchy. People get people get it.

[00:21:19] They like it because I've introduced myself. So, so that, so I've got their attention because my title and what I say. So personally, Oh, I liked that. So they make click on my profile and follow me because I introduced myself. They want to learn more about me. They want to connect with me if I stay in the audience and don't, and don't come up to speak, people are not really going to know about me.

[00:21:39] So, so by me, going. And getting invites to speak. I've I've gotten more connections and collaborations of doing that because I got out of my comfort zone and I introduced him, introduced myself, and it allowed people to hear me, hear my passion, find out about me and that's how it has opened up doors.

[00:21:59] now there are some times that I do want to just go into a room and I just want to Just listen, you know, and just soak in because we're in a town I'm giving. I want to soak in. Now we'll tell you about a room. that was a room that I got a P invite. I came into the room and one of the ladies we are connected on social media.

[00:22:19] I met her some years ago on. On Periscope and this one Periscope was big. And so I met on Periscope. We are connected on Facebook. we don't have a lot of interaction, but we, we know each other from Periscope and Facebook. So she was hosting a room. I got a pink dot came in. I seen her, I can't remember a pink came in, so I was just in the audience.

[00:22:42] Troy Holt: And I was laying in the bed. I was about ready to go to bed. My wife was asleep, so, so they paid me to come on the audience and I really didn't want to, because my wife is sleeping. My wife, sometimes I say, I get loud and I wake her up. So I ended up getting out of the bed and going up into the living room.

[00:22:58] and so I spoke, so the subject was About relationships. And so so I shared, you know, I said, me and my wife had been married going on 30 years. And I said, the key to our marriage is we've kept people out and kept God in. I said, that's been the key to our marriage. And they was like, wow, thank you for sharing, but blah, blah, blah.

[00:23:20] Troy Holt: He said, Oh, we got our topic for tomorrow night would going to be a moderator. Did you hear that? Because I came up and spoke. I wasn't planning on speaking. I just wanted to listen. And so, so the next night we had awe hadabout relationships, marriage, and relationships, and it was a great and they was doing relationships all that week and it was a great.

[00:23:41] conversation. My sister-in-law seen me in there. She popped in and she stayed in and offer her insight. And so I didn't, I didn't invite my sisters a lot. I didn't know if she knew about it, but she happened to see me in there and she came in and she talked a little bit how me and my wife, she gave him a little background, how me and my wife got together.

[00:23:57] Troy Holt: So, so Dell was just an opportunity that I wouldn't have never had if I hadn't came up and to speak when I was invited. Absolutely.

[00:24:04] Monique Idemudia: Absolutely. You have to speak up, open that mouth jazz, you know, stand up. It's your time to shine. So amazing about Clubhouse. You have an opportunity to introduce yourself. A lot of people will ask you to introduce yourself and tell the others in the room about you.

[00:24:23] So for elevator pitch ready, that is so crucial and clap has you have to be able. To introduce yourself what you do, how you can help people, not just, you know, what you do from a factual perspective, but also like from a value perspective for, for others, what you help other people to do the solution that you offer the problem to solve.

[00:24:43] And like less than 30 seconds really quick without, you know, sounding either boring. And unerring interesting. Or sounding pushy or salesy or what else you have to yeah. Nail that work. And of course it's perfectly fine. We just want to listen. You're at work. You can't be a speaker in the room, but it's also a great opportunity that you have that.

[00:25:09] So be ready. It's, you know, the first impression counts, everybody in the room will hear it live. And if you nail it, a lot of people will connect with you and follow you. Yes, that is so great about club has as well.

[00:25:23] Troy Holt: And another tip I want to add also net start your own room so you can start a room.

[00:25:28] You just have a room networking at five. And some people copy and just stop talking to network and people, but also moderate become a moderator. And what moderate does it allows you to sh it allows you to be a part of the the room environment, the moderators control the room but also what moderate it does, it puts you in the perception of an authority.

[00:25:58] That when people come in a room, especially if it's, if it's a room that you're constantly moderating, it puts you at people, perceive you as this authority. So it gives you some, some credibility and some authority of perception that you may not have none of that, but perception. So moderating allows you that opportunity.

[00:26:15] But I like moderating because I just like to help and support. whatever room dynamic. I mean, because when I have a room I want moderators to help and support me. So, so moderators are good to help and support and moderators. Like I said, they control the room, the atmosphere moderators can kick people out.

[00:26:31] They can invite people to to, to speak. they can mute people. So, so moderating, they have control of the

[00:26:37] Monique Idemudia: room. Yeah, as the moderators are also the ones. When you raise your hand and you request permission to speak, they either accept it or the climate pass them a 30 and as a moderator, you also get this little green icon next to the names that everybody can see that your room moderator.

[00:26:54] Yeah. You also appear at that top of the room is on, right, right now. So you up in the list, so to speak of the people who are in their room, and if you're at the top, everybody's gonna see you and other participants in that room, you'll have to scroll down and the larger that room is there. You know, for the, you have to scroll down large rooms, you'll have to scroll down.

[00:27:18] Yeah. and you definitely want to have more than one moderator room is larger. So some rooms get pretty large, 2000 or even more people. And they like small five people, 10 people. What's your experience with that? What do you prefer? What are like the pros and cons?

[00:27:36] Troy Holt: I prefer the smaller rooms. the smaller room, they're more intimate.

[00:27:40] The people are more connected. the larger rooms seem to be more Informational and more disconnected. You have to wait you know, if you want to speak and there's a lot of people ahead of, you have to wait, you know, a while to speak every now and then I'll pop in, in a large room. If it's, I'll see the title of a person, I want to see just pop in and a few minutes to see what's being said I've seen grant Cardone in a room, a person.

[00:28:05] Heard him in a room. Ty Lopez seen him in a room. I think they were both in one room together. So it was a couple of thousand people. I seen Kanye West. it was in a room. They put his name. I'm not for sure he was in the room. I did pop in there and just, I just wanted to see what was said. I didn't see him that he might've been under another name or aliasMUSCof Telsa he was supposed to be in the room.

[00:28:25] I kept seeing that he was going to be in the room and I don't know if he was ever in a room, but when, when people like that, I, I, I seen where they said Mark Zuckerberg was supposed to be in the room. I'm not for sure if he was, so I'm not a celebrity type person. I'm not a, you know, I got to follow this.

[00:28:43] Troy Holt: I'm not, I'm just not. So to me, the smaller rooms are the best because you really have the interaction. You have the connection, you have the intimacy and the people are more connected. They get more value because what you want to try to do, I look at a room. It's kind like if you come to my house I'm the, I'm the, I'm the host.

[00:29:02] And so when you come to my house and I'm the host. I want to make you feel comfortable. So I want to do whatever I can to communicate with you all for you. You know, you want, you want some, you want some water, you want some soda, you want some, some snacks and I want to make you feel comfortable. And I think you have more of an opportunity to do that in a smaller rooms than you do the larger rooms, the smaller rooms, many times, you know you know, you can ask, Hey, anybody having any input or questions anybody want to contribute?

[00:29:28] and then you can call some people out. Hey, Oh, Monique do you have something you want to want to add? You know, sometimes pushing the people a little bit like that. So I, so I liked the smaller rooms better. Now, there may be some people who love and thrive off the big rooms. That's their thing. But me, I liked the smaller rooms

[00:29:43] Monique Idemudia: better.

[00:29:44] Yes exactly. I absolutely agree. I'm absolutely with you on this one. I prefer the smaller rooms as well. You can really have a much more personal interaction and have a discussion host like a Q and a session in there. And everybody gets a chance to speak when they want to speak. They don't have to wait forever until it's their turn.

[00:30:07] Because most of the time it's, you know, first come first serve who have joined first get to speak first, also the order of the participants in the room. So it's like in sequence you can refresh it and then always see, you know, if you're at the bottom, that means you've just joined and that. Move up on the longer you stay, if other people like leave the room and the meantime.

[00:30:29] So that's like how it is. And yet there's a lot of celebrities on Clubhouse. I've seen some big names as well, a Wiz Khalifa. And you, you mentioned a bunch of people too, so yes. That is, that is actually, I think the reason right. Clubhouse has gained so much traction and is so much talked about right now because so many celebrities joined because it's just so unique.

[00:30:53] A lot of companies have been coming out with new social media platforms. And they've been like hoping that people become sick and tired of the Facebooks and Twitters in the morning. Platforms of the world and joined their platforms which really hasn't happened that much, but with Clubhouse, because it's so new and it's like audio only everybody has felt enticed to like, go check it out, especially since they've made it so exclusive, which is a great marketing tactic right away, exclusive.

[00:31:24] And people felt like they want it even more because it was invite only. And not everybody could just, you know, join just like that.

[00:31:33] Troy Holt: And, you know to, to that point also money I think what what other people fail to, to miss celebrities are here human beings too. And they like to. Interact, not all of them, but, you know, especially the extroverts, they like to interact with people too.

[00:31:54] So this gives them the opportunity to interact with boundaries. You know, they don't have someone stalking them, someone hounding them. They can come into a room and interact with people and share some insights and some tips. and I think that's, if many of them could be craving that. That interaction, but they have to be careful, you know, when they out in public that someone's not trying to get over them, someone's trying to use them.

[00:32:19] And so this allows them to keep that boundaries, but still have that interaction. So, so sometime we, we kinda miss how this can really be a great. Blessing to celebrities. And and then there was something else that you said I wanted to, and now my mind has went blank. It was something else you said it may be a, come back to me.

[00:32:37] Go ahead.

[00:32:39] Monique Idemudia: So we found a room together and it was a social media, Q and a, and it went really well. It was a smaller room. The room was out for like two, three hours I think. So a lot of people. have joined during that entire duration, but at a time it was like around 10, 15 people in that room may be out of time.

[00:33:01] So yeah, we really got to know new people. We got to listen to their pinpoints and their business and what they're struggling with with social media marketing, and we could answer their questions and really help them out and give them personalized. At vice and the others in the room could learn from that as well.

[00:33:21] And it was just very, you know, great to, to hear we've connected afterwards and all other platforms. And it's just great insights on what's going on in the market and your particular industry as well. I mean, both of us were marketers. I seem to see, okay, what are people struggling with when it comes to social media marketing?

[00:33:41] How can we create content around that to help word people out? And at the same time we push our brand out there. If it's branded content, we raise our awareness with how we attract more people to us, and we just get to see what's what's going on and make more, you know Make better, better decisions that are based on fact and on data and on things that we know for a fact, because we've heard people say them and we're not just, you know, making guesses about what people want and need, but we actually know when they tell us to that is a great tool to get feedback straight from the market.

[00:34:18] Do your research and ask people because yeah, you could like create a servi and sent the link to people and be like, Hey, can you fill out that survey for me? Yeah. I love to hear your feedback well, should rate of that is like super low, whereas on clap Clubhouse that's a great tool for that. And that was it.

[00:34:36] That was a great experience.

[00:34:39] Troy Holt: And you know what, with that being said, you can say the old saying it straight from the horse's mouth, you know, you get that information, you know, straight firsthand. And, and so you know, it, it's one of those things that it's just, it's so many possibilities. And opportunities.

[00:34:54] I haveI can't remember if she came in that that day we had a room, but they're connected with a realtor in South Florida and on Facebook. So I'm in a group of realtorsblack realtors, rock, Facebook group. And so I made a post aboutyou know, anybody who is. In this uses system that I use for Marketing I would like to interview on a podcast and so her, so I ended up doing a pre-interview with her, about my podcast, and then what ended up happening?

[00:35:26] I told her about Clubhouse, so she ended up coming on Clubhouse. Well, what really got me about her was that she's a foreign national. And she ended up purchasing a home here and she's a realtor. And so I encouraged her I said, Hey, you, you should start a room about foreign nationals and that they can, they can purchase a home here in America.

[00:35:50] Troy Holt: And so her firstfirst room was, she had a, she, it was her. It was another realtor who she bought her house from, which was also a Bahamian she's fromshe's a Bahamian well, she's originally from Turks and Caicos, but she grew up inno, she, she was born in The Bahamas, but she grew up in Turks and Caicos and she had a real estate attorney and the lady on the title for foreign nationals andA financer for foreign foreign nationals.

[00:36:20] And I told her, I said, you should start a room and she's been doing it now. I think next week will be her third week about foreign nationals. You know what I'm saying? Because that's information that many don't know, and there's a market there because we have a lot of people who are over here, immigration and stuff that she can show them, Hey, this is the process I've been through it.

[00:36:38] And this is how you do it.

[00:36:40] Monique Idemudia: That's great. Yeah. There's so many, there's so many things that you can do on Clubhouse. just, you know, making things clear, helping people understand, especially when it comes to, you know, I suppose there's a of formalities involved and a lot of questions that people have, and it's not clear in the bureaucracy and everything.

[00:37:01] Plain things to people in simple terms and plain English and spoken language, and people can ask their questions, live and interact with her. And that's just, you know, that's relationship building. That's what it's all about. That's how you build trust. You showcase your expertise and I'm sure that a lot of the people who've joined her room will hire her.

[00:37:24] afterwards and not somebody else because they been in that room with her. Right. She's helped them understand and walk them through everything. And at the end of the day, marketing is all about relationship building. It's about change relationships. Yeah. And it's a win-win and that way you grow your business and become more successful for sure.

[00:37:44] Troy Holt: And she's one of those, she's one of the types she's kind of. An introvert in that kind of, Hey, you know, I kind of, I was the one encouraged to do that. Cause you know, I, I look at and see the possibility potential. And so there's so many subjects that people can do. I'm doing a room on Saturday, I'm doing a five week.

[00:38:01] it's going to be on a Saturday. So I'm doing a five week series on the 15 miles of growth. John Maxwell, 15 miles of growth. I'm a John Maxwell coach, speaker and trainer. So I'm doing some different than what I normally do. 15 miles ago. It's going to be a discussion about growing, you know personal growth, personal development.

[00:38:19] Troy Holt: And so it just told me any. Things and, you know if you like music you like photography, you could start a room and have a discussion, and then you're gonna end up getting collaborations and connections and, and different things like that just by having that, you know, so whatever you, whatever your interest is, if it's a hobby, you can start a room and build a connection.

[00:38:40] There.

[00:38:41] Monique Idemudia: Absolutely. Yes, there is basically almost any topic you can, that you can cert a room line on Clubhouse. They have so many categories, so of course it's a great tool for your business and, you know, for your digital marketing. But it's definitely also going to be a platform where you can have a great time just tuning in, on things that interest you on a personal level and have nothing to do with your business.

[00:39:07] And maybe that's even a great way to get to know the platform, lower risk, put your brand right. And everything on the Lac, just testing the waters. This new maybe. And that it's audio only is also perfect for introverts, because if you're camera shy and you don't want to show your face with that, people can see you.

[00:39:28] All they can hear is your voice and you don't have to get ready and everything else just be who you are, come as you are. And yeah, you're ready to go

[00:39:38] Troy Holt: well for a females, Monique, and you can identify this. You don't have to put on no makeup. You don't have to do your hair. You know, you don't have to do any of that to get ready.

[00:39:47] And there I've been in a room, there's a room called shoot your shot. I'm just curious. And for single people, just curious, wanting to know, you know, what's it about. So basically what it is is a group of people. And then the moderators they'll go to the next person and say, Hey, who in the audience interest in you and the issue of your shot and the upbringing, the person up.

[00:40:07] And, and then they'll have a little back and forth and then they say, Hey, y'all go into a private room or

[00:40:16] they have a room call. So I'm like, Oh wow. You know, so

[00:40:24] Monique Idemudia: that's amazing. People get really creative, but that's the first single crowd. This shoot your shot room.

[00:40:36] Troy Holt: Now, I don't know how those relationships turn out, but that's, I've seen that. And I, I was just curious, cause I wanted to see how they doing it and operate. And so it was, it was interesting to me.

[00:40:47] Monique Idemudia: Yeah, definitely share is what I also love about clef has, is when you create a room. You can create it right now, obviously, or you can schedule it for a time in the future.

[00:40:58] And then it's like, it's like an event that's that youth graded would in Clubhouse prop that event. because it integrates with Twitter natively. If on Twitter, it, you already have that tweet, like you've mentioned that I'm going to be live talking about, you know, Lank insert the topic at the time that you said.

[00:41:20] but they also give you a link so you can share it and other social media platforms and treat it like an event. And because it's an event, what you can do, and this is great as a marketing strategy. And for you a lead generation. So you have a record of, you know, everybody who's interested, everybody who joined are looking to join and interacting with that event because you can't see that on Clubhouse.

[00:41:44] Monique Idemudia: As of now, you can't like go in post a event or post your room and see a list of all participants and. The, I dunno, average engagement, duration, or, yeah, joined erasion or anything like statistics, they don't give you anything like that. So what you can do is create an event on like either LinkedIn or Facebook or any platform of your choice.

[00:42:11] And then you can track it there. Everybody who's like your event, who said that they're interested they're potentially come in or they they set that there you know, come in, you can run ads to those events to even more. Of how's room. and then you get all of the data as well in those other platforms where you've created that event to drive traffic and more people to your Clubhouse event leverage your branded hashtag if you have one and carriage people, so use it, encourage people to share the room, take a screenshot, post it like, Hey, I'm in this room right now is so amazing.

[00:42:46] They should all these valuable knowledge with the hashtag or whatever. and then within those groups you can also, you know, people can post content. People can share their feedback after the event, they can come there and be like, Hey, great room. they can invite other people. They can share that event platforms as well.

[00:43:05] So definitely leverage that. don't see Clubhouse as like a silo, especially since it's new and there's not as many features on there yet. It's very basic. They have all you need though to get started. but definitely also combine it with other social platforms that you're already on. and especially Instagram is just, yeah, it's just super, like you've already mentioned.

[00:43:26] Most people will connect with you through your Instagram Twitter. not as much, even though you can link. Those two platforms, natively B to B. People will just ask you for your LinkedIn and people use real names on Clubhouse. So typically you'll see people use their real name. People don't really make names or aliases, so it's easy to, you know, find you on LinkedIn or to just Google you and connect what you on any other platform as well.

[00:43:52] So, yeah. Yeah,

[00:43:54] Troy Holt: like my LinkedIn I've added my, my link to my bio. a couple other things. I recommend that people well, a few things. Number one, you have to have an iPhone to get on Clubhouse or an iPad. So will work. also I mentioned about the fixmybio.com. I'll also go to Clubhouse.com.

[00:44:12] It'll give you the guide other information, but also if you're on submit. submit for clubs and remember, club is the convention center, and then you can have other rooms. Under your convention center, but that gives you more exposure. So I've submitted for two clubs, myself. It takes a little while to get the clubs.

[00:44:32] I think you have to at least host three rooms and moderate, some moderating and hosting rooms give you the algo basically helps you so that I'm on stand and they look at a lot of that. So so it just, the main thing is just getting out there, getting out of the conference zone and getting the exposure.

[00:44:48] and I liked the idea of that. What you're saying about using the events. I didn't think about, I mean, a Facebook event, so I'mI'm, I'm I'm gonna work with that today. Cause I told you, I have learned something this Saturday, but it's going to be weekly for five weeks. It's 15 hours and I'm covering three laws a week.

[00:45:04] and so trying to keep it an hour and it's going to be more of an interactive discussion. That's what I want to make it. People talk about their growth and have they grown. I want to hear a testimony testimonials, you know, I just want to make it where people open up and discuss different things that have helped them in their growth or what they're planning, narcotic plans.

[00:45:22] Troy Holt: There's the, you know, the first of the year. So thank you. It's a good time to talk about growth.

[00:45:28] Monique Idemudia: Yes, absolutely. Everybody's looking to grow. Right. Nice. We're all looking to grow and yeah, like you sat with the clubs, they even expect you to be active in those clubs. So you have to commit to, you know, being active in that club, hosting rooms a couple times a week before you even get accepted to open a club because they don't want it to be like, for example, Facebook you know, there's just tons of things.

[00:45:56] Dad's Facebook groups where nobody has anything in and months or even years, and people just create creating. And the platform just becomes spammy with so much. Useless stuff that's on there. you know, and it's just a bad user experience. If you're searching for a club about topic X and then you you, you know, you want to join, you're so excited and then nothing's going on there.

[00:46:20] And if you have that negative experience, a couple of times, it just reflects poorly on the platform. So Clubhouse wants to keep everything high quality. That's what I also love about it. Yes. So consider it. If you want to join, if you want to create a club that you have to commit to it and actually take it seriously.

[00:46:39] I did read the article Monique last week that Mark Cuban, I don't know if you're familiar who he is, but he, he, he's a, he's a partner with a tech company and they coming out with they're working all, coming out with some type of competition to Clubhouse. So be on the lookout for that. So clubs

[00:46:58] Monique Idemudia: may have some, he heard a bunch of things.

[00:47:01] So Facebook wants to compete with club has now because they use it and it's requested. So they want they're actually. Right now in the process of developing a Clubhouse, like feature within Facebook, and they're hoping to get it finished and released before Clapp house releases their Android version to take all of the Android users over to Facebook and gain more traction and their black rooms.

[00:47:28] So they can have like a Clubhouse experience because flap house has been working on their Android version of the app for a while now. And it hasn't come out yet. They've been dancing under black, I think a couple of months ago. Still not out there yet. It's only available for iOS devices like iPhones and iPads as of now.

[00:47:48] So we'll see when Clubhouse comes out with their Android version and Twitter is also working on clever Twitter. Yeah. A while back a couple of months ago. They've rolled out a voice trait feature only for iPhone users in the United States. So you would. Yeah, yeah. On Twitter, you would have your profile picture on there.

[00:48:12] and that's basically the tweet and then it gives you like a sound wave animation, kind of like audio gram when you speak and has to be like under a minute long. So it's short. It's like, yeah, like a tweet tweets has to be two, but you can just talk into there and have like a voice tweet that's been going on for a while now.

[00:48:32] Monique Idemudia: And

[00:48:33] Troy Holt: Yeah, the Twitter one. Is that a feature you can use now?

[00:48:36] Monique Idemudia: The audio tweets? Yes. That's a feature that you can use an iPhone and you're in the United States, but the other Twitter Clubhouse feature they've had a name for it. I can't remember. It was route nine. I don't want to say anything wrong now. I'll look it up and put in the description, but that's going to be like a real Clubhouse feature, but the voice feeds you can do right now.

[00:48:57] Yeah. Okay. I

[00:48:58] Troy Holt: didn't know that I'm going to sample that product today.

[00:49:00] Monique Idemudia: Definitely try it out. I've tried it out a couple of times. I have found that my texts read my regular tweets, get more engagement and more traction than the voice tweet. and it could

[00:49:10] Troy Holt: be many people don't know about it. You know, like me I'm on Twitter.

[00:49:14] I'm not like on it. Like I used to be cause I was heavily on it about five, six, seven years ago. but I didn't know that, but I started using it a little bit because I like it because I probably could speak it quickly, then I can type it. So I'm going to play around with it and see.

[00:49:29] Monique Idemudia: Exactly. Yeah.

[00:49:30] It's definitely worth it to play around with it since, you know, just such an unlimited audience, only iPhone users, and then only in the United States. Not a lot of people know of it and yeah, not a lot of people recorded. I've actually noticed it. On accident, seeing like a little microphone icon, whenever we compose a tweet on my phone.

[00:49:52] So I clicked on it out of curiosity. And then I seen this feature, so I was like, Oh wow. So Google it. And they've actually just rolled it out. So when I seen it like a week or so before, so I've tried it out. I think that since Twitter is like just a text, you know, Twitter is texting. Instagram is visual ways, Clubhouses audio ways.

[00:50:12] Each platform has like their medium, what they focus on, what our users are so used to texts. They just want to scroll through the feed quickly and just, you know, just skim through the texts and pick up the news and the. Information that they want to pick up. It's not like a platform where you take your time and you actually, you know, duet dwell on a tweet for longer you know, and actually click the play button and watch and listen to an audio brand because it is, it looks nice.

[00:50:43] It's colorful, you know? The sound wave is moving at the bottom. So it's animated too. So if you see a voice tweet, you can clearly see it's a voice tweet and you can clearly see you can, you know, click the play button, like in a video. but yeah, it just doesn't get as much engagement from experience.

[00:51:02] Regular text tweets. What also actually could be the cause of that is that people listen, but then after they've listened, they don't retweet or like, or comment again, because it's unusual to see multiple engagement types of the same person. Of the same tweet, right? Yeah. You probably know this from, from yourself.

[00:51:23] You either like it tweet or you retweet it or you comment, but you most likely not do all three and then especially if you have to click and listen for a while, that's the engagement already. So yeah, you get more engagements there. Can you send

[00:51:38] Troy Holt: it in a DM?

[00:51:40] Monique Idemudia: I'm not sure about that yet. Actually I have to check that out.

[00:51:46] I don't think so though. I don't know what you can do with every one of your tweets is shared in a fleet. So you could also share those in your fleets, which are like the Twitter stories. They call them fleets.

[00:51:58] Troy Holt: Okay. Okay. Yeah. I, I, I, I seen that they have the stories. Yeah, I haven't used that much, but I need to start using them the more you know, I'll start using Twitter.

[00:52:08] I've been using LinkedIn stories more and I definitely use Facebook and Instagram stories.

[00:52:14] Monique Idemudia: Yeah. Stories. It's a hot thing ever since Snapchat came up with it, everybody's been copying that. People love it. So, yeah, it's a nice thing. Do you have any other marketing tactics to share which you could do on Clubhouse?

[00:52:28]

[00:52:28] Troy Holt: yes. This is huge. I was in a room about four moderators. And it was a very accurate room that really enjoyed the room. the main guy was highly interactive high energy. Well, one of the moderators sent me a DM on Instagram saying, Hey, thank you for joining the room.

[00:52:53] And she put her at her Clubhouse name. So I stopped in the room that I moderate. I started

[00:53:02] including you in a real down moderate. So I'm standing in a room. Everybody come in. And I go to, I click on their profile, click on, on the Instagram and I have a message that I just basically copy and I'll put their name in there. And then I send them and say, Hey, thank you for joining the LinkedIn club room on behalf ofMcKenzie, Michael and myself.

[00:53:26] we appreciate your presence, something like that. And I say, and what that does. so when the, when the lady did it for me, number one, it made me feel special. It made me, made me feel welcome, but also what it does is it allows you to connect with people and also be a conversation, held conversations with people also.

[00:53:47] Troy Holt: So you need some money. If you moderate, you be the main person. You need some moderators to do that for you, but. I like it better for me that I'm not the main person, because it allows me to have the opportunity to welcome the people, make them feel good, but also I can have conversations with people and build relationship.

[00:54:09] Monique Idemudia: Right. Yeah. And that's so important.

[00:54:12] Troy Holt: Yeah. So that, that was, that was huge for me. And so I call moderate I do do it now, or we will say this, be careful. because I am in Instagram jail. I have two Instagram accounts is a one, the one that I used with Clubhouse I'm in Instagram jail, because I think because I was sending the messages rapidly, I'm a bot.

[00:54:38] So I'm in Instagram jail to the 15th.

[00:54:41] Monique Idemudia: Oh, wow. That's happened to me before though. So, so don't worry. Actually, there is such a thing as Clubhouse jail as well. I've heard people say that already. Oh, I'm currently in jail.

[00:54:54] Troy Holt: I've been in jail and I'm like, I didn't, and I didn't hit that many people, you know?

[00:54:59] three or four. And so I've been in Clubhouse deal too. Yep. If you do it

[00:55:03] Monique Idemudia: very rapidly in a row, like just click the click, the click that that's the one, I guess it's not about the quantity. You can follow two, 300 people in a day, but if you do it, if you just follow, like, let's say 15 or so, but very quickly in a row, I think that's what triggers it.

[00:55:22] Instagram a year, our overlay over like a year back to me knowing
